The competition proposed the intervention on a vacant lot adjacent to the main square in Guadalajara for a new hotel building.

The project aims to provide a new interpretation of traditional elements of Mexican architecture and craftsmanship. So the colonnade at the ground floor is given new character expanding under for the whole floor and the courtyard is shift up to the façade of the building, creating a fracture that allows a luxurious vertical garden to become the spine of the hotel. The texture of the façade resonates with the geometric patterns of the textile and pictorial craftsmanship of the region, and it is re-imagined in a double skin of local stone in two different nuances that create an irregular decoration.
