Daniela is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and a minor in sustainability. As a young architect in training, she is very passionate about the design field, and everything associated with it. Her college career taught her that curiosity and passion are what drive design to be the best. Daniela’s background encompasses a wide range of architectural, graphic design, public relations, and marketing skills as she has gained experience and knowledge in each of these fields. Since the beginning of her college career, Daniela has worked as a freelance graphic designer and as the graphic designer for the Latin American Studies Center at UMD. These opportunities led to her involvement with Dupont Underground as their marketing and social media chair in 2019, and to her recent appointment as LA.IDEA DC’s Vice-Chair, an AIA committee meant to become the leading collective of Latin American design professionals in the Washington, DC area by creating opportunities for interaction among members, fostering professional development, and engaging the community. Currently, she is an architectural designer at Page DC, where she is part of the Lab Planning and Academic studio, in addition to being a helping hand in multiple departments in the office including marketing, and sustainability. Daniela grew up in Bogota, Colombia for the first half of her life and then moved to the U.S. with her mother. Once in the U.S. she moved in with a Jewish family and encountered people from all over the world. This experience kindled her desire for travelling, learning about different cultures, and designing for different communities. She has been privileged to have travelled to and explored 12+ countries and lived in three of the 12. Through these experiences, she has been able to expand her knowledge of the role of architecture and what it means to be an architect. It has taught her the meaning of leadership, collaboration, and the importance of having an open mind. She hopes to continue in the design field to work towards a more equitable future.

Gábor Domján (1970, Hungary) is a Budapest-based graphic designer with degrees from the Hungarian (now: Moholy-Nagy) University of Arts and Design (1993 BA, 1997 MA). He has been working as a freelance designer ever since he completed his studies; his works have been included in multiple group exhibitions. About 15 years ago Gábor started to pursue his interest in the pixel as the building block of images in the field of digital graphic art. First he focused on new patterns created by the distortion of diagonally connected pixels, and then he moved on to possible pixel variations in a given area. This has led to creating “cmykrmx” images that he describes as controlled randomization, a process through which an image first is broken up into pieces and then, after multiple steps, a new aesthetic quality is generated. The selected piece “curvingtheflat” is an example of this working method: it shows a further reinterpretation of a fragment of a previously remixed image that was generated by controlled randomization.
